Blog Entry #2 Reviewing Part 3

I thought part three was the most difficult. This was difficult for me because it was harder to juxtapose all of the different shapes. Some of the shapes I had to make smaller so there was both and positive and negative space.

The first time I put all of the shapes together I had a hard time making everything fit. The second time I had an idea to make a picture out of all of the different cut outs. The idea of a tree came to mind. The tree shape in my picture would be the dominate shape. All of the "leaves" of the tree were sub-ordinate, and the cell phone in the sky was an accent.

By making a picture out of all the separate pictures I thought it would bring the viewer into my picture. The first thing you notice is the tree scene. Then, after you have seen the obvious, you look at all of the different pictures that make up the tree. I enjoyed looking at my own piece from both far away and close up.

The images in the picture all relate to things I like. For example, the trunk of the tree is a pair of jeans. The other objects that make up the body of the tree are makeup products I like to use, or perfume I wear. Also, the cell phone in the sky is my favorite because I love talking on the phone. I thought by placing the cell phone in the sky had two purposes. The first being that it represented a bird, and the second being that I like to talk alot and it stands out in my life. I think my picture was creative.

Blog Entry #1

For me art is something you can look at and be inspired by. Sometimes it will make you feel good and other times you may have may questions about it. What inspires me most about art is that you can look at anything and call it art. For example, my cell phone could be considered art. For me anything that has design and can appeal to any single person or to a variety of people can be art.

I have not done much art in my life so far because it is something that I fell I am not very good at. When I do draw or paint or sketch I draw people, flowers, sunsets; but mostly things that I can relate to and make me happy. I like drawing these things because every time you draw them over again you draw something different. For instance, when I draw a sunset, the background and the foreground are not always the same, and most times the colors in the sky change with every sunset.

When I draw its usually in my notebook or on a piece of paper, but when I want to get serious about something I will buy a piece of canvas, and paint what ever it is that is on my mind. I like painting on canvas because it gives the painting texture, also the different kinds of paint give the picture life.

Art has no limits, and I feel that you can interpret it any way you wish.
